Role overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to conceive and execute marketing campaigns for an assigned list of books in the Children’s Division at HarperCollins Publishers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and execute marketing campaigns across the children’s list.
  • Develop a clear and strategic vision for each campaign, including audience segmentation, promotional timelines, and key tactics to drive sales within each audience segment.
  • Utilize internal and external analysis and data management tools to make strategic, data-driven decisions.
  • Evolve promotional plans based on marketplace trends, emerging opportunities, and imprint and campaign results.
  • Identify promotional backlist opportunities for titles/authors, working closely with Editorial, Marketing, Art, and Sales to ensure visibility of assets and inclusion in seasonal programs.
  • Manage budgets for assigned titles and track performance to budget.
  • Communicate detailed campaign updates directly to editors, publicists, publishers, sales teams, agents, and authors.
  • Present campaigns formally in key meetings.
  • Advise authors on building and optimizing their social media presence and overall platform.
  • Provide hands-on support to authors where necessary.
  • Develop a variety of content for campaigns, including social media post copy and images, infographics, and email blast copy for consumer-facing promotion.
  • Actively participate in all imprint-wide marketing discussions related to titles and campaigns.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation for all seasonal sales meetings.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with publicists on each campaign.
  • Secure title-specific as well as imprint-wide cross-promotional partnerships with third-party brands and companies.
  • Occasional attendance at industry trade shows and book tour events.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of publishing experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization.
  • A positive, can-do attitude, with the ability to take initiative, effectively work with cross-functional teams, and prioritize multiple projects under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital publishing, book marketing, and the social media landscape.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Meltwater and Canva.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The salary range for this role is $85,000-$95,000.
