Role overview
Penguin Random House is seeking a self-motivated, strategic thinker to join the Online and Digital Business Development team. This role is responsible for managing the on-boarding of new sales accounts in both established and emerging markets, as well as contributing to cross-functional initiatives that drive key sales channel development. The team identifies and on-boards accounts from new and existing markets, including startup technology companies, emerging AI and social commerce platforms, and established institutions supporting library and university sales.
As a member of the Business Development team, you will have the opportunity to represent the company to prospective accounts and collaborate closely with PRH’s senior leadership, including sales, legal, operations, and international teams. This is a fast-paced, thoughtful, and team-oriented environment that welcomes individuals who can embrace new business opportunities and processes while contributing to team efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end on-boarding of new accounts, including identifying new market opportunities, negotiating terms, and executing account set-up with cross-functional teams
- Research prospective accounts to identify new leads and potential new markets aligned with company strategic priorities
- Develop the new account pipeline, focusing on CRM improvements and generating sales analysis to enhance team performance
- Lead analytics projects, leveraging data to identify opportunities, drive decisions, and monitor growth
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing accounts
- Support other members of the Business Development Team on various special projects with evolving profiles and priorities
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional experience in business development, sales strategy, or a related field
- Proven ability to effectively interact and communicate with employees at all levels within a company
- Highly organized with a strong ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to digest complex information and distill it into clear, actionable insights
- A true team player with strong collaboration skills
- Creative thinker focused on solving business challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Proficient Microsoft Office user, particularly with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Strong analytical skills
- Interest in or experience working with emerging digital platforms, including AI and social commerce, is a plus
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of humor are a plus

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range for this position is $77,500 to $82,000
