Job Description

PFB is seeking a Literary Agent to work exclusively as a co-agent with Kimberly Brower. This role will collaborate on all aspects of client representation and literary agency services, specifically on Kimberly Brower's clients as well as emerging talent.

This role's responsibilities will require clear, proactive communication on tasks varying from client care, compiling sales updates and market research, reading manuscripts, providing support and insight on marketing and publicity efforts, writing pitch letters and other publishing materials as needed, reviewing deal memos and networking and influencing outcomes. At times this role will take the lead on publishing strategies and other times work in tandem with Kimberly Brower. In this role you will work with authors, their teams, outside contractors and publishing partners and must be able to navigate each type of relationship.

This role is expected to remain an Associate Agent role for at least 12 months working exclusively with Kimberly Brower as a co-agent before moving into further growth opportunities including signing new clients, strategizing submissions to publishers and fully managing publishing projects and guiding authors throughout every stage of the publishing process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years at a literary agency or talent agency; agenting experience is mandatory
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to anticipate the needs of the people you work with, both internally and externally
  • A team player who understands and enjoys the process of working with others
  • Excel in written and oral communication
  • Can problem-solve and manage conflict resolution, while keeping all parties satisfied
  • Must listen effectively, learn quickly and improve performance consistently
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are not intimidated working with a variety of high performing colleagues and authors
  • Work proactively to perform a large quantity of work where timing matters and know how to prioritize when everything is a priority
  • Use good judgement in making decisions and in organizing your workload

Compensation and Benefits

  • $66,000–$85,000
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance provided with premium paid by PFB
  • 401(k) plan available after 1 full year of employment
  • Discretionary bonus program
  • 23 days of paid vacation, 10 holidays + 1 floating holiday
  • PFB is closed between Christmas and New Year's
  • Summer Fridays 9–1 from Memorial Day–Labor Day
